The next Footprints Film Series features FW Murnau's 1927 classic - Sunrise. Last year, Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra performed to Buster Keaton's The General to a near sell-out audience. Footprints is bringing them back to the Lawrence Arts Center to accompany the silent film classic - Sunrise. Though made in California, this film has its roots in German Expressionist movement. It was director FW Murnau's first Hollywood effort. The story is a classic tale of corruption and redemption. The film is poetically beautiful, a masterwork of atmospheric film making. Mont Alto's score makes the film come alive.

Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra
The Mont Alto Orchestra is a five-piece chamber ensemble that recreates the small local orchestras that were popular in America from 1890 through 1930. Mont Alto revives this tradition in recordings and live performances (see below).
