KS Board of Healing Arts Files Complaint Against KS Doctor   Date: July 28, 2010
A medical regulatory board has filed a disciplinary complaint against a Kansas doctor over referrals for late-term abortions to the late Dr. George Tiller. The State Board of Healing Arts' 11-count petition against Dr. Ann Neuhaus, of Nortonville, was made public yesterday (TUE) by the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue. The petition alleges Neuhaus failed to properly evaluate whether an abortion of a viable fetus was necessary to preserve the life or health of the mother. Kansas law requires a second physician to concur with abortions after the fetus can survive outside the womb. Board spokeswoman Lisa Corwin says the board held a preliminary hearing last week to inform Neuhaus of the allegations. A formal hearing is set for January 11. Neuhaus could not be immediately reached for comment.
