KS GOP Primaries Main Attraction in Upcoming Elections   Date: July 27, 2010
The hottest political show this year in Kansas closes August 3. That's when Republican voters decide whether U-S Representative Jerry Moran or Todd Tiahrt will be their nominee for the U-S Senate. Democrats will field a challenger, but none of their five candidates are likely to give either Moran or Tiahrt much trouble. Democrats can feel better about the governor's race. But there, a lopsided victory by U-S Senator Sam Brownback remains the most likely result. A few years ago, thanks to then-Governor Kathleen Sebelius, her fellow Democrats buzzed that GOP-red Kansas was turning purple. But those prospects already were fading when Sebelius left in April 2009 to join President Barack Obama's Cabinet. Analysts believe that this year could be grim for Democrats.
