| Item Listing | KS State Senator Outspends Opposition in Campaign Date: July 27, 2010 A Kansas state senator has spent nearly twice as much money as the incumbent Democratic secretary of state ahead of the August 3 primary. State Senator Chris Steineger reported Monday spending $82,000 on his campaign from January 1 through July 22. He loaned his campaign $50,000 and raised $58,000 in contributions. Secretary of State Chris Biggs reported spending about $43,000 in the same period while raising $70,000 and chipping in $6,000 of his own money. Democratic Governor Mark Parkinson appointed Biggs to the secretary of state's office after four-term Republican Ron Thornburgh resigned in February. The Democratic nominee will face one of three Republican hopefuls in November's general election.
