| Item Listing | Another Tribal Casino Could Open Soon in KS Date: February 22, 2010 An official with the Wyandotte Tribe of Oklahoma says the tribe could have a casino opened in Park City by the end of the year.
Billy Friend, second chief of the tribe, says the U-S Department of the Interior could put the tribe's 10.5 acres in Park City into trust for gambling within 30 days. After that, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar would have to approve the application. Friend says if everything went right, the casino could be opened around Christmas.
That would be well ahead of a state-owned casino being planned in Sumner County. The future of the tribal casino has delayed the Sumner County casino. The developers of that casino renegotiated the contract with the Kansas Lottery out of concern when or if the Park City casino is built.
