Roeder Prosecutors Oppose Change of Venue Motion   Date: November 20, 2009
Prosecutors are opposing a change of venue for the trial of the man who has publicly admitted killing Doctor George Tiller to save "unborn children." Court documents made public today (FRI) in the case against Scott Roeder argue defense attorneys have offered no evidence to support their request for a change of venue for his January 11 trial. The 51-year-old Kansas City, Missouri man is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault in the May 31 shooting death of Tiller. Prosecutors contend the defense has offered only unsupported factual assertions and opinions. The defense wants a new trial location, arguing potential jurors have been subject to vast pretrial publicity. A December 22 hearing has been set on the issue.
